2020 Spiritual State of Pipe Creek Friends Meeting Meeting Report
Needless to say this has been a challenging year for our Meeting due to our inability to gather in person in our Meeting house. The first two months we did meet together and although we are usually just 10-12 present in the meeting house, we have the opportunity for spiritual support for one another and a sense of beloved community. When we were meeting together a member gave a reading to help focus our worship. This was either from Quaker queries or other inspirational viewpoints.
Beginning in the third month we no longer felt safe to gather in the Meeting house due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Thanks to the support and skill of one of our members, we met regularly via Zoom. We mostly met in silence, but members were encouraged to share a poem or inspirational message during the meeting and various members did so each week. Members were encouraged to stay on Zoom and share how they were doing with the pandemic and life in general. Unfortunately, not all our members had access to internet and were able to Zoom with us. Some members though who moved away did join us virtually.
When we were able to feel safe meeting outside and the weather permitted, we met together under a huge oak tree. We followed social distancing and mask guidelines and these meetings were joyful. Being together in person and being in the natural world seemed to deepen our spiritual experience.
We were forced to give up outdoor meetings as the weather got colder in November and we returned to Zoom. One of our members opened the meeting house every week for worship and she was joined by one or two others. We held two virtual business meetings in eighth and ninth month.
The spiritual strength of Pipe Creek meeting was tested by the challenges the pandemic presented but it has emerged vibrant and in good shape.

2008 Spiritual State of the Meeting Report
Pipe Creek Friends Meeting has entered a state of being by which the Light, maintained for so long by a few, having been reflected out into the community, has illuminated the way for many new seekers. That eternal Light has caused them to come closer. In coming closer, they have opened the way for the Meeting to truly live its convictions and act upon it’s testimonies in ways that benefit the wider community.
In what can only be described as an “upward spiral”, the more Light that is brought forth, the more people are drawn to it. The more people who are drawn to it, the more Light is brought forth. Our Meeting has been blessed with many new and passionate Friends. We have been blessed with many hands to do our work and many projects to share together that have served not just to better our community but as vessels in which we can learn from each other. We have been blessed with the opportunity to share in the marriage of two of our members, the first under our care in 50 years. We have struggled with gathering darkness in our nation and the world and we have acted upon it with a call to daily prayer and great faith. We have not always agreed with each other in every matter, but we have arrived at a place where no issue is so great as to divide us because what we now share is greater than anything this world may challenge us with.
We have had glimpses of how God may have intended people to live together, work and worship, seek God’s will and nourish one another. We hope to continue to grow together, cherish each other and attain harmony.
