Get to know Yearly Meeting Committees and Friends from other Meetings! Be a part of important decision making. Join Friends for morning committee meetings and the afternoon’s Interim Business Meeting. Friends Community School and Adelphi Friends Meeting will host the Sixth Month Interim Meeting. Friends will begin gathering at 10:00am. Committee meetings will begin at 10:30. Check the Yearly Meeting website for more information.

Sandy Spring Meeting’s Simple Dinner Gathering and Discussion via Zoom will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020, beginning at 6 pm, focused on sharing on the theme of “How do We Become the Anti-Racist Community We Envision?” The simple meal begins at 6 pm, with the discussion and worship sharing to begin at 6:30 pm. A member of Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s Growing Diverse Leadership group will lead the discussion and sharing. All Friends throughout BYM and elsewhere are welcome and encouraged to join us to discuss this challenging and timely subject. It will be helpful for participants to prepare by reading the BYM Anti-Racism Statement and associated queries within that document, located at https://www.bym-rsf.org/publicatoins/antiracism.html. Also, consider watching the movie “Just Mercy.” It is free (through 6/30/20) on many platforms. Go to https://justmercy.eji.org/ to see listings or watch it for free on YouTube. This conversation is for F(f)riends of all ages! Please join and share your Light. Contact Jonathan Glass (jglass@cooley.com) for Zoom connection information.

The End of Life Working Group announces an on-line forum for Friends on June 27 from 10-12 EDT, to initiate a series of conversations that explore difficult topics. Depending on the response, we are prepared to offer multiple future forums to help explore the issues, the needs, and the various responses of Quakers worldwide to this same topic of living and dying well as Friends. We know that many of us are coping with unarticulated fears about our mortality since the risks of becoming terminally ill are higher during a pandemic. As Friends seeking truth and love in a considered life, we recognize that this virus affords us the opportunity to prioritize our wishes about the end of our life. Especially for older Friends, it probably is already on our minds, however clandestinely. The working group has gathered resources and queries that are now uploaded on the BYM website, and has committed to respond to Meetings’ and individual needs. Among us are trained professionals with years of expertise in multiple areas. Please refer to our webpage, look over the queries, and send us your questions. RSVP is requested. The link will be emailed to all registrants thereafter. We encourage Friends facing personal situations regarding end of life issues to write to us anytime for individualized support. We will do our best to listen with trained ears and support your discernment. RSVP: End of Life Working Group endoflife@bym-rsf.org
