"We are thrilled to announce the Black Quaker Lives Matter Film Festival, a first-of-its-kind film festival that endeavors to educate all about the importance of Quakers of Color who for too long have remained within the margins of the Society of Friends and the wider world. From 12 February 2022, during Black History Month, until Paul Robeson’s birthday on 9 April 2022 we will screen a film centered on a Quaker of Color with an introduction from a guest expert and a follow up discussion facilitated by BQP Director Dr. Harold D. (Hal) Weaver. Screenings will take place every other Saturday on Zoom at 1pm ET."
Virtual Worship for White Friends Confronting Racism
The Ministry on Racism is hosting a weekly virtual Meeting for Worship for white Friends/Friends of European descent confronting racism and white supremacy. This worship seeks to nourish white Friends’ communal anti-racism commitment and provide a space for the work we have to do together. Fridays, 12:00pm - 1p.m ET.
Out of the winter season, participants in this program will explore the darkness together. We will start with a blessing:
We will bless each other.
We will bless what we bring to the adventure.
We will bless our beautiful world,
both the miraculous and catastrophic.
Then we will turn toward how we each define the dark and enter into a journey of reflection, mirroring insights, singing, movement, journaling, and communing in silence to deepen our relationship to the dark. We will then explore themes of the dark as a place of healing and rest, womb that births our vision, our creativity and the home of awe and wonder.
In order to do this, we’ll support each other to:
Look at the hard things that happen in the dark;
Face our fear of the unknown;
Look at how our culture has equated dark with bad;
Explore the generative and restorative components of the dark.
Join us for an adventure into the willowy shadows. Bringing our curiosity and hearts, we will discover, celebrate, and heal together.

WALKING WITH THE BIBLE is a monthly bilingual series of Bible hours (2 hours each) on Saturdays, January 22, February 26, and March 26. Sponsored by Friends World Committee on Consultation (FWCC).
In this series, Peter Blood-Patterson will welcome a series of different Friends as guest leaders. We will have a chance to hear what role the Bible plays in each of these Friends’ lives and to hear what approaches to the Bible they find work in their personal practice and group settings, and we will read and discuss a piece of Scripture that is meaningful for them.
