Friends Meeting of Washington is being featured on this tour, and is the site of the tea. The Dupont Circle Citizens Association will hold its 49th Annual House Tour on Sunday, October 16 from 12pm to 5. This year will feature the Northwest section. Topographically, the northwestern edge of the Dupont Circle neighborhood lies at the foot of the Wicomico-Sunderland Escarpment, part of the Atlantic Seaboard fall line, the outer boundary of the original L'Enfant City. In fact, Florida Avenue, which forms the spine of this year's tour, was originally named Boundary Street. Tour-goers will begin in the lowlands of P Street among grand townhouses and rise to the Florida Ave rim where unique buildings featuring panoramic views will be open to the tour – the American Geophysical Union and the new Hepburn Apartments adjacent to the Hilton.

Sandy Spring Friends School (Sandy Spring, MD)

Are you considering a Friends education for your child? Please join us on Sunday, October 16th from 1-3:30PM to learn more about our academically rigorous college preparatory program for children in PK (ages 3 and 4) – 12th Grade. Our students develop a love of learning through close collaboration with their teachers and peers (average class size is 14). We invite you to come and learn about our inquiry-based approach, and how we incorporate the natural beauty of our 140-acre campus in hands-on learning. During the Open House families will be able to tour the campus, talk with teachers, and hear more about our programs. Student and parent ambassadors will be available to answer questions and talk further about the SSFS experience and community. We hope you can make it! Please RSVP.

Did you know there are Quakers in 87 different countries, representing 100 Yearly Meetings, speaking multiple languages? How do you think differences in culture affect ways in which Quakers worship? What do Friends around the world have in common? What is the value of a resounding collective Quaker voice around the world? Gretchen Castle, General Secretary of the Friends World Committee for Consultation – World Office in London will be with us to share her experiences of Quakers around the world. Gretchen grew up among pastoral Friends in Iowa, worked for Friends General Conference and other Quaker organizations, was presiding clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and now serves Friends at the world level. Come hear her stories, see photos, and imagine how the family of Friends extends from the Asia West Pacific, through Africa and Europe, and to the Americas extending from Alaska and Canada to Peru and Bolivia (the second largest group of Quakers). The presentation will begin at 4:00pm.
