This event is for people of all ages, and seeks to raise awareness of indigenous peoples who once were the sole residents of this land. 220,000 people in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania are Native Americans – 1% of the population. There are 11 recognized tribes in Virginia (7 are federally recognized) and 3 state recognized tribes in Maryland.
