Sandy Spring Friends School (Sandy Spring, MD)

Sandy Spring Friends School would like to invite you to participate in our Empty Bowl endeavor to fight hunger. Come join school, SSMM, BYM, and community members on November 22nd to make ceramic bowls. No experience is needed, just a willingness to help others. All bowls made will be for use at the Empty Bowl dinner planned for February 21st, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 pm in Westview Dining Hall at Sandy Spring Friends School. At that dinner, participants (and you are of course invited!), will be welcome to choose a favorite bowl, share a simple meal, and then take the bowl home as a reminder that 15+ million American children go to bed daily without dinner. All funds gathered that night will be sent to Feeding America to help fund their Backpack program supporting children in food-insecure families. For more information about the Empty Bowl project at SSFS, please read more about it online here: http://www.ssfs.org/data/files/gallery/ContentGallery/EmptyBowlProject_2016.pdf We will hold two sessions for making bowls in the Art Barn on the SSFS campus on Sunday, November 22nd. One session will be from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, and the second from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. You do not need to know how to make bowls as we will teach you the simple process, all supplies are provided, but we do request you click on this link (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a4ca5a72ea31-bowl3) to reserve space in the art barn as we have limited work stations.
