The first part of the Timber Stand Improvement work at Catoctin has been completed and it is time for us to come out help the forest begin its renewal. We would like to plant about 450 trees at three different sites at Catoctin and we could use a little help! Some of these trees will be the new, blight resistant American Chestnuts (see below). We will gather around 9 am at Catoctin and plant trees until we run out! This will also be a great time to do some spring cleaning helping to get camp opened up, checking out the early wild flowers and enjoying the property in general. Since the kitchen and bathhouses may not be 100% open and ready for use yet we will not be staying overnight but we will have sandwiches, fruit, snacks and drinks available at lunch time.
