The Friends Wilderness Center is having its first 2012 semi-annual Star Gazing program. Learn about the winter constellations and planets with astronomer Kevin Boles of the Morgan County Observatory. Gather for supper before heading out to view the stars and planets through an 8" reflector telescope and star charts to help guide us on this interstellar journey. Jupiter, the ring nebula, the double star Albireo, the Great Orion nebula and the Andromeda galaxy are all visible in our winter skies. Bring a telescope or a good pair of binoculars if you have them. Hot beverages will be available to help warm you up. Dinner ($10) will be served to those who register for it. Dinner will be at 6:00 and the star gazing will begin at about 7:00. This will be limited to 30 people, so get your registration in early by calling Sheila Bach (304-728-4820 or snbach@earthlink.net) Suggested donation is $10.00 per person. FWC is near Harper’s Ferry, WV. Visitors may arrange to stay at the comfortable Niles Cabin.
