Friends Meeting of Washington is sponsoring a free showing of the documentary film God Loves Uganda. The film explores the role of American Evangelicals in Uganda in promoting homophobia, which contributed to the passing of that country's Anti-Homosexuality Law. Although this law has been struck down on a technicality by the Ugandan Courts, it remains in force and the social forces that brought it about in the first place still exist. The ensuing panel discussion will focus on the current conditions facing LGBT individuals in a number of countries in Africa and other parts of the world where repressive laws against homosexuality have been passed, and how faith-based communities can work to communicate a message of love and inclusion for LGBT individuals in these places. The film starts at 1:00 pm.
Pipe Creek is inviting Friends to join them for their Second Annual Meeting Reunion picnic. The picnic will begin at 12:00 pm and extend till at least 2:00 pm. For more information, contact the Meeting. (410-751-1108 or pipecreekreunion@gmail.com)
