Have you received your spring appeal? If so, you’ll know that Friends have a tremendous opportunity to “multiply” our gifts to Baltimore Yearly Meeting this year. Your gift to BYM helps support Quaker community and Quaker witness throughout the greater Chesapeake region.

Some among us who believe strongly in the work of our Yearly Meeting have offered to match your donation to BYM: For every dollar given through our new monthly auto-donor program (credit card or checking account debit), the challenge donors will contribute two dollars; and for every dollar given as a one-time gift (check, credit card, online donation, or stock) the challenge donors will contribute one dollar. These matches will be made until December 31, 2009 or until all gifts total $50,000 – whichever comes first.

Friends may now choose a convenient, budget-friendly way to provide sustained support for our Yearly Meeting. The option of automatic monthly giving enables you to spread your gift out over the year while leveraging additional support for BYM. These gifts are matched 2:1 on a monthly basis – so the earlier you sign up, the more matching funds you’ll generate!

By mid-June, over 20 Friends have arranged to make monthly gifts to BYM totaling over $500 per month in personal giving. When the challenge match is applied under the stated terms, the combined giving of these Friends will generate over $8,000 for BYM through the end of the year.
